Today, we experienced a somewhat different kind of meeting at our practice enterprise, lively, interactive and full of new ideas. For the first time, we had the opportunity to try out the World Café method, a form of discussion that focuses primarily on exchange and joint brainstorming.
Several tables formed small islands of dialogue. In each round, one person remained at the table as the host, while everyone else moved on and joined in new discussions. This created a fluid exchange of perspectives, thoughts and ideas. After each round, we recorded the most important insights, questions or solutions on the respective flipchart, visible, colourful and comprehensible for everyone.
The goal of our World Café was clearly defined: we wanted to find out where each department currently stands, what interfaces exist and how we can better support each other in our tasks. And indeed, the method brought an astonishing number of synergies to light. Topics that had previously been unclear became more understandable through the exchange. We were finally able to look at problems that had been with us for a long time from different angles and even solve some of them. At the same time, new ideas emerged on how we could optimise our collaboration and make it even more efficient.
At the end of the meeting, we all agreed: this form of collaborative thinking not only brought us closer together but also showed us how much potential there is in our teamwork. The World Café was a complete success for us. Inspiring, helpful and motivating at the same time.
